i have my first interview this thursday for substitute teaching. when i start i think i'll feel a little more accomplished.

we're given this idea when we go to college, that once you're in and you graduate, jobs will fall into your lap. you'll start making money right away, have benefits, and move into your own apartment. no living with parents, no part-time jobs. and then, we graduate. some people will be able to move out and get jobs right away, but living up to that is hard. i graduated. i'm a teacher. because of tons of paperwork and the inability that state boards of education have to work with one another, i'm now going to be working 3 jobs, with no benefits, i have to work nights and weekends, and there is no "vacation" time.

i'm here now, and i think- this is normal. but if i was still a sophomore, looking at myself now, i'd be disappointed. i feel like some people are disappointed, maybe not in me, but in the reality that life after college might have nothing to do with being paid salary and living in your own apartment.

in life, you never fully define who you are at any one point in time. so you're still finding where you fit in the tapestry.

so, i started at starbucks today. i needed a job on top of teaching, which i haven't been able to do yet because the county still hasn't sent me my certificate.

anyway. i learned a bunch of things that are no brainers, like maintaining a clean store,etc. the one cool thing i did learn was how to make all kinds of frappacinos.

on another note. brenton and i bought our tickets for texas. we're going on a cruise with his family the week before christmas :)

So, I just had one of the best cups of tea ever (thanks to Ashley for my killer birthday present, a loose-leaf tea brewing cup), and I'm taking a break because I hand is killing me.

Why you ask? Oh, this college grad has to take 3 more credits of collegiate math in order to get her PA teaching license. So, I'm taking pre-calc. And I just finished the 120 question warm up of all the things I was supposed to brush up on before the class started. About a dozen notebook pages later, I have something I'm not even going to be graded on. Woot!

On a better note, I think Brenton and I have narrowed our guest list down to the final one. I'm trying to be organized. I have everyone's seperate name on note cards, and seperated into groups of Brenton's family & friends, Kimberly's family & friends, and mutual friends. B thinks I'm a dork, and kind of laughed when I pulled them out of my bag.

next stop: math test, choosing wedding invitations, and working at my mom's office.

im going to wear my hair in a ponytail forever.

so, i went to get my haircut yesterday, and when the girl did it, i liked it.

now. i hate it. i feel like with the way the layers are i have a mullet...ok, maybe not that bad, but it looks awful from the back, and i don't do well with haircuts that have to be styled. for me it's a waste of time, so now i don't even know where to begin.

i seriously just want to sit around the house and cry all day.

so.

some things i learned at camp:

pinchy-winchy is the only game that can still make me laugh after 11 weeks.

i'm destined to always win 2nd place in counselor challange. and always to a boy. dang it.

that i'm a magnet for needy and dumb campers. (examples: I'm trying to get the girls to do "we wills," rules we create for the cabin. I'm trying to get the girls to say "We will respect each other." So I said "Not touching each other's person, and not stealing each others stuff equals?" Steph, who is 13, goes, "Adultery." WHAT!?!?!) EDIT:: Did I mention a little elementary school camper named Max called me a bad singer AND pregnant?

you can never be fully clean at camp. ever.

coffee is a neccesity to function in the morning.

"chubby one k'nobi" is the funniest insult i've ever heard in my life.

and i'm exhausted. i want to sleep for days.

so.
during my first....and only....game of Staff vs. Camper football
i got pummelled in the nose by our program director, derek (who was on my team).
and now have a deviated septum.
and my nose is still swollen inside so i can't breathe much on the left side of my nose.

a couple things i learned at camp so far:

# 1.) 4 days of pouring rain + flooding + 150 people in a humid gym = crazy 24 hour stomach virus.

# 2.) Campers will say exactly what they are thinking. (While I'm changing my shirt, Michala looks at my stomach and goes, "You eat a lot don't you?")

# 3.) Adopting a friend at camp as your camp brother is no bueno. (This week's tally- 15 wet willy's, 8 arm pit slaps, and a few pinches to the elbow. And I was called an ugly boy.)
